13 Stories V: Announcing the Fifth Anniversary of 13 Stories!

Celebrate five years of incredible short films inspired by true stories from the Old Idaho Penitentiary. The site once again is teaming up with i48 for the fifth annual “13 Stories” film competition, a unique opportunity for Idaho filmmakers to create short (4-7 minutes in duration) films chronicling the stories of the men and women who worked or served time behind the sandstone walls. Filmmaker teams will have the opportunity to shoot their films on location at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Site staff will contact each team to schedule time to shoot between June 9 and August 30, 2024. The deadline for turning in finished films will be September 1 at 12:00 pm.

All finished films will be included in two nights of screenings at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. The first night, featuring a screening and awards presentation for the filmmaker teams, takes place on a Friday the 13th (September 13, 2024). The second night, (Saturday, September 14) gives audiences a second chance to see this year’s entries. Ticket sales begin Tuesday, August 20 at 10:00 am for both nights. Concessions and no-host bar will be available each night. Judged awards with cash prizes will be given to winning films on Friday, September 13.
